Chocolate Sauce/Chunks

Don't cheat yourself, treat yourself. Whether you need Chocolate Sauce for a n’ice cream sundae, Chocolate Chunks for a batch of cookies, or simply want to indulge yourself straight from the bowl, Meg's Sweet Treats has you covered.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1/3 cup melted coconut oil (or cacao butter/combo of both)
  • pinch of ground cinnamon
  • pinch of sea salt

Meg's Method

1. Melt chunks of coconut oil/cacao butter over a double boiler (you can make a double boiler by placing a glass or metal bowl over a saucepan with an inch or two of simmering water. Make sure the base of your bowl does not touch the water).

2. Once the oil has melted, remove from heat and measure 1/3 cup; set aside any excess.
Option: If using baker’s chocolate instead of powder, now would be the time to melt 4 oz of chocolate (over the double boiler).

3. Whisk together oil, cocoa powder (or melted chocolate), raw honey, cinnamon & salt until smooth and silky. The consistency will change and your chocolate should look glossy.
FYI - This step may take some effort, especially if you’ve let it cool.

To make Chocolate Chunks:
Pour chocolate into parchment-lined dish & freeze for at least 30 minutes.
Cut frozen chocolate into chunks (using a hot knife if necessary) and store in the freezer.
